Jane Andrew is currently undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy titled Towards an understanding of the relationship between creative capital and regional economic and employment development. Jane’s research is funded by an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant and involves a partnership between the Centre for Labour Research at the University of Adelaide and the South Australian Government’s Department of Premier and Cabinet, Strategic Projects Division.

Prior to commencing her PhD studies, Jane was Executive Director of Craftsouth Centre for Contemporary Craft and Design Inc., a-not-for-profit Industry Association of over 300 designer/makers and artists in South Australia.

Jane has formal postgraduate qualifications in Business Enterprise and Entrepreneurship from the University of Adelaide; and a Degree in Design (Ceramics) from the South Australian School of Art, (formerly SACAE, Underdale).

Before commencing at Craftsouth in 1999, Jane ran a studio based ceramic design practice producing work for exhibition, retail, and public art commissions, and designing/prototyping /manufacturing tiled furniture for Freedom and Myer Grace Bros.
