Pathways

Mentorship
The Craft Mentorship Program is supported by the Visual Arts Craft Board of the Australia Council and is offered annually to support emerging practitioners under the age of 30. The funds for these programs are devolved to the network of craft organisations all over the country and are designed specifically to assist the transition from emerging practice to sustainable career paths.

Artistic practice
Launched in November 2005, the Living Treasures: Masters of Australian craft series is an initiative of Object: Australian Centre for Craft and Design. The series acknowledges the wealth and dynamism of the Australian studio craft movement. Each year, through the combination of a national touring exhibition and a major monograph publication, the Living Treasures celebrates the achievements of Australia's iconic and influential crafts practitioners.

Maker to Manufacture to Market
Maker to Manufacture to Market, MMM, was established in 2005 as a strategic initiative by the Australia Council's Visual Arts Board. Based on findings from the Throsby/Hollister report, Don't give up your day job, the program encouraged Australian designers to commercialise a prototype product, take it to market and earn income. Six Australian craft.design makers received $30,000 each to develop their design prototype and take it to market.

Australian Design Platform
In 2007 the Maker to Manufacture to Market program was successful in receiving AusIndustry funding to develop the Australian Design Platform - a designer and industry mentoring program. The program will enable designers to develop their ideas on the factory floor and manufacturers to have access to new ideas from contemporary designers. This new platform will replace the MMM program.
